Ultimate 2-Band Brush

Ultimate 2-band?

  • Rooney Finest

  • New Rooney Super Heritage

  • Pre Vulfix Simpsons

  • Post Vulfix Simpsons

  • Plisson HMW

  • Shavemac D01

Results are only viewable after voting.
This poll is aimed at seeing which manufacturers 2-band is the B&B favorite (as I am curious), price no object just the favorite so vote and tell us why. Now I accept that not all 2-bands are included in this poll so if your favorite isn't available as an option simply post and tell us what ya like best. You don't have to have tried all or even more than one of these brushes to vote here as presumably the one you bought is your favorite ! This is a public poll so don't be shy. Don't forget to tell us why you voted the way you did.

Lets meet the contenders:

1) The now deceased Rooney Finest

2) The New 2-band Heritage super

3) Simpsons (pre Vulfix) also called Manchurian I believe

4) Simpsons (post Vulfix) Probably the most talked about brushes round here right now!

5) Plisson HMW The most likely to have SWMBO exclaim "You spent what on a goddamned brush"

6) Shavemac D01 a dark horse perhaps but I have never heard of anyone not liking there custom D01

This is the first time I've done a post like this so please be nice!

Regards Grant

P.S I voted Rooney Finest

Simpsons and Shavemac both have great Two-band hair, but Rooney Finest is the ultimate example of what Two-band hair should be - an insane amount of backbone with soft white tips.

I am with you on that one! I voted for it and frankly of the 2-bands I have tried it is the best by a good bit.

Not voting because I've only tried 3 of them. Finest, Post-Vulfix, and Plisson.

Plisson is very soft with good backbone, but I find the density lacking. Simpson is a good all-around knot but not exceptional in any way. Rooney Finest is unlike any other 2 band. It's closer to black badger than any other 2 band I've tried, but with soft tips. Density is exceptional and neither of the two Finests I've used ever lost a single hair.

50% + 50% + 10% Now I'm no mathematician however there may be something wrong with this poll.

Regards Grant

The poll is set up so a person can vote for more than one brush, so the numbers won't add up to 100%.

I am a huge fan of the Post-Vulfix CH 1 two band, so Simpsons has my vote.

ahh that is fine I wanted to include for people who can't split 2 brands.

How many of you have experience with all of these brushes? I'm jealous.

Anyways, from the list I've only tried the Simpson two band super. Of them, the CH1 two band is my favorite, but the CH2 two band is no slouch mind you... Both are sweet and just keep getting better and better with use.

I voted Shavemac D01...I love the backbone, soft tips, and craftsmanship. For the money, it really is a bargain. You can probably get 2 Shavemacs for the price of a Plisson .

it is my favorite brush right now and I have just ordered a custom 2-band D01 from Bernd.

I think if you were judicious with knot size in shavemac you could get more than 2 especially if your Plisson was this:http://www.rasageplisson.com/epages/161058.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/161058/Products/P955059.20

This would annihilate the brush fund.

I voted for the finest - a well broken in Rooney finest fan knot this is as good as it gets IMO. I am trying to convince myself that the "unobtainable" aspect is not affecting my judgment. I also own a Simpson Manchurian and some other interesting brushes, so I am pretty sure that I am being objective. But of course the usual YMMV waiver still applies!

Holy cow man :scared::yikes:...and I thought I had seen it all. Now, that's an expensive brush and you sir, are absolutely right. I know where my $$ is going towards :001_smile

Smart move I think you would have to misread the price to order one of those HMW's or perhaps merely be smoking something potent. I certainly think that the Shavemac is the better deal or even 5 Shavemacs at that.

Dude, i feel you have left alot of great 2 band brushes on the side here. I have a Rooney finest, but will not answer because it is the only one I have in the poll. I have the following & there are possibly more.

Shavemac - other than DO-1.
TGN finest.
New Forest.

I voted for the Shavemac D01 because its my first and only brush and its been a wonderful. Great backbone, very soft tips and great craftsmanship. The shavemac will soon have company because today I bought myself a Christmas present, a Simpson Ehsan two-ban super badger from BullGoose.
