TWSBI 540's

I was going to place an order for a smoke 540 fine or medium on the TWSBI website, but they are sold out. Goulet is also sold out, apparently.

Does anyone know a place that still has these pens in stock?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The 540 has undergone some updates (i.e. cracking barrels, etc.) and will be re-released as the 580 soon. My guess is within the next couple of months.

Edited: Forgot to mention that I love the 540. I have three and haven't had any issues with any of them. They are my daily workhorse pens. If you have a chance to pick one up used for a reasonable price I wouldn't hesitate.

I would like to buy one, but can't seem to find any.

I saw the ad at Goulet that the 580's were coming in March, but I'm looking to buy one now. It seems like they have a gap in their product availability between the older and newer model.

Still looking, but haven't found them in stock yet.

Talked to Rachel at Goulet, who was awesome about answering my questions, as always. Decided to go with the Diamond mini.

I would wait until they are back in stock. I love my TWSBI 540. It's my most used fp and performs flawlessly. Daniel is right, the nib unit is a twist-off and very easy to remove. I have the 1.5mm and Fine nibs.

If I like the Mini I will probably get a 580 when they come out. Have you guys ever had trouble with the piston knob on the end turning in your pocket or anything like that? I was worried that it could cause leaking.

Never had such an issue. My only issue was that medium nib was too wet for my taste. The fine is more to my preference. No fault of the pen.

I enjoy using the TWSBI Mini just as much as the Diamond 540. I generaly never post my pens, but when you screw the cap on to post the Mini, it becomes a great size! That being said, to write a quick note, the extra step of having to screw the cap on the back can be bothersome at times to some.

Guys, my Diamond Mini showed up today... after unpacking it, I found that I was unable to fill it. Finally, I opened it up and the piston fell right out of the cap. It wasn't even turning inside the pen because they were disconnecting when fully extended.

Anybody else had this problem? Can I fix it? Should I send it back?

Any advice is appreciated.

Can you take a pic? they are very easy to assemble and disassemble. Who did you buy it from?

Here is a video from Shawn (WatchArt) assembling his 540, I know, not the same pen, but the same steps. But use your TWSBI wrench, not whatever he used.

Hey Dave, I got it from Goulet.

Thanks for the video... this was the perfect video for my situation. I had actually just figured it out on my own after taking it apart and playing around with it, but it was kind of a pain. However, anyone with this problem (piston is not threaded properly out of the box) should watch the above video.

Thanks again for your help.
