Yeah, I have some of this.

It's available as a real bargain-basement scent here in the UK. It can usually be had for a £1 or so. For the money it's ok. I'm not sure how it compares to the original from the 80's?

i like blue stratos and now i am going to have to purchase another bottle. I would say that of the big three supermarket/chemist brands it's the least used and i dont know why. The other 2 are of course Old spice and Brut33. Hey any aussies have an old menage in the rotation hehe.

I had some years ago and couldn't stand the smell. It just seemed very cloying. I have noticed that my tastes have matured since I was at high school so I might try a tester out of interest.

Thanks for the reminder...I haven't smelled it (or even thought of it, really) since 1982. Think I'll have to sniff a bottle next time I see one.

It's the 'teenage cringe' scent for me - too many of us in the early eighties bathed in the stuff for me not to associate it with failed attempts to appear manly in my early teens.

That said, Denim has become my aftershave of choice, to the extent that I've taken to tracking down vintage bottles of the stuff.

Coincidence - I recently spotted it along with English Blazer and the other Yardley classics at the Chemist King chain. They even had a brand new tester out on the shelf.

Now the unfortunate part. I remember this from the late seventies or early eighties when it was the upwardly mobile boagan's choice. There was a very abstract ad with soaring seagulls that played in the cinema - that pitched it a cut above the Brut 33 crowd. My Uncle probably used it, it was his kind of image. It went well with a big moustache, a hairy chest and a Brock HDT Commodore. I have fond memories of it...

But what I sprayed on the back of my hand the other day was vile. There's a sharp industrial solvent overtone that just would not go away! I don't know what I remember, but it wasn't that.

English Blazer on the other hand (literally) was what I remember. Rather too sweet for my taste these days; I remember it being something the girls at high school loved - although I'm now a little doubtful that I'm thinking of the right stuff having looked at the release dates. I did buy the deodorant stick :001_smile

Anyway, I did some research and it seems these brands were sold by the remains of Yardley to Parfum Bleu - based in Berkshire: insert your own rhyming slang jokes here. They in tern sold the rights late last year to an Aussie company whose name escapes me. Now the interesting bit: the Blue Stratos I sampled was Australian made while the English Blazer and Gold (which I didn't sample 'cause I'd run out of hands) were still made by Parfum Bleu.

My question is therefore: where is yours made? Have the local licensees rooted it or is it my tastes and memories playing me false?

The Blue Stratos aftershave is made in Berkshire (England) the deodorant in Meppel (Holland) The shaving cream by Snehsagar Enterprise in Baddi India (Solan district). All under the licence from Parfums Bleu Limited Berkshire England.

This may be true for everyone outside of the Asia Pacific region or prior to the end of 2006. Parfums Bleu sold all their rights in the Asia Pacific region to Key Sun Laboratories of New South Wales at the end of 2006.

I found the notice on their website.

The Blue Stratos bottles and boxes I've seen in Chemist King were all labeled made in Australia. The English Blazer packaging was labeled made in England. I assume that Key Sun Laboratories will eventually be manufacturing all the brands listed for sale in all the territories listed.

Which still leaves me wondering if the Blue Stratos that I tried is different to the old / Parfums Bleu product.

Well, putting my misgivings behind me, I bought a - small - bottle of Blue Stratos today. The scent's familiar from my youth, but thinking about it, I can't recall ever having the aftershave. I had plenty of deodorant sprays, and liberally perfumigated myself with them, but at that age I hadn't started shaving regularly - once a month maybe, and then more in hope than expectation.

I may wear it tomorrow :001_smile

Used Blue Stratos for the first time in twenty years - fresh Feather in my EJ89L - and the results were excellent. No lasting redness, great smooth finish and the scent was fine - has lasted well, but isn't as overbearing as I remembered.

I'll definitely use it as much as my Denim addiction permits :biggrin1:

Picked up a 250ml bottle off the bay a few months back. Lovely citrus typ fresh scent. Cheap as chips and a true gem IMHO.
