two Omega boar brushes

I recently ordered an Omega professional brush, but returned it because it was just too big. I guess that's what 'professional' means: it's intended for use by barbers.

Now I'm looking at two brushes at Tryphon and wondered if anyone had experiences with either one.

They are the 31052 and the 31064. Specifically, are they smaller than the professional models? How tall are they?

They should both be smaller. The loft on them is around 55mm or so, I believe. A bit higher for the pro.

I don't have these specific brushes, but I do have the one that has a wooden handle. I believe mine is the same size as these. It is deffinatley smaller, and a great all around brush. Its great to see boar brushes getting some good recognition.

I just got a 31064, it's a semi-big brush, ~4 1/2" tall- lessee, Omega site sez: Height 11,3 cm - 4,45". OK, I was close.

I still want a 31052- IIRC, it's about the same height as the Omega colors brush, just has that classy looking handle. Omega site sez: 31052, Height 10,6 cm - 4,17". Colors brush they claim 4.13" tall- pretty close again!

The difference may not sound like much, but when you put the 31064 alongside my 80265(banded colors brush, 4.13" tall), it looks a lot bigger. The 064 has a larger dia knot than the 265 too.

If your Omega Pro is the '48(~5.25" tall), you might find the 31064 to be "small enough"- or maybe not. If you have a '49(~5" tall), I'd definitely recommend the 31052 as a step down in size.

BTW: We seem to have very similar taste in Omega brushes- back when I first began looking through all the pix at Omega and the now-defunct Tryphon, those were the two that looked the best to me! They still do- and though I really need to hold off on brushes, someday I *Will* have an Omega 31052.

Thanks for all the helpful comments. Now the hunt begins. I think boar brushes are about to make a big comeback. A 31052 has moved to the top of my 'gotta-have' list.
