Two Gillettes - how to ID?

I'm very new to wet shaving and have only shaved with straights so far, but just received two Gillette DE razors in a mystery box, and I would love to do some research on them.

Not knowing the names of any Gillette models - is there a pictorial history and overview of models where I might match these up to a model/name?

Specifically interested in model name, potential year, and if they are considered aggressive/gentle.

Greatly appreciate any information you can provide.

The smaller one looks to me to be an "old type" or maybe "new improved" ball end and the larger one is a lady gillette

The ball end/ open comb razor should be somewhat aggressive while the lady Gillette will be a little milder.

I know your blue one is a Lady Gillette. Read from bottom and look at the top left corner for a letter that's the year made. On the top right is the quarter made IE 1234. Cross reference here. http://www.renaldo.us/grbd.php Not a expert on the three piece deals yet but try looking between the top and bottom plate for numbers.

One is a ladies razor the other an old type.

If the old type has a serial # then you can look it up. If it doesn't it is from the 1920's.

The lady should have a letter code and number and you can look the date up from that
