What's new

Two Ever Readys, ready for a new life.

These are my first two brush restores/reknots, let me know what you think.
C40 handle I restored with 20mm TGN 2-band finest bulb set at about 48mm loft. 150 Black over green I bought in restored condition and installed a 20mm TGN 2-band finest fan set at about 50mm loft. Can't wait to break these in and try them out!

Thanks, they are both broken in and smelling good. Soft with just the right amount of backbone. I love the combination of black and green colors, so that handle really called to me and I couldn't be happier with it.

Nice brushes. I echo the other comments on the 150 - that green looks super rich, makes the brush look great.

How are you finding the fan vs the bulb? This is an interesting comparison since you essentially have the same knot and loft for both brushes.

Nice, I love the 2 tone EverReady's! I just bought 1 restored off the BST here and have another coming to restore off of Ebay. Keep up the good work, these old brushes are too classy to let them just get pitched!

UPD:
Quite simply very, very impressive first class (A #1...and the green/black is superb) work.

Although I may not be additted yet, but there's time (I think I'm holding up rather well against this Vintage Ever-Ready Brush disorder [especially the two tone color scheme knockouts],...and other Acquisition Disorders). We all suffer (and are doomed ), to some degree from this shaving complusion, because at times..."Resistance is futile".

Thanks for the pic, a side by side comparison between finest fan and bulb. Nice restores. The C40 is one of the nicest looking vintage handles around.

Not surprisingly there is quite a difference. The fan knot is softer with much less backbone...not that it doesn't have backbone, just less than the bulb. The bulb knot is also soft, but feels more dense and has a lot more backbone. It eats soap like there is no tomorrow.

The black/green with the finest fan knot is my favorite brush right now, it is getting used a lot. It is the perfect balance of softness and backbone suitable for creams and soaps. No shedding post break-in at all, it is a perfect brush in my estimation.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
