TTO safety tip

Good Morning

First I’m 5 months in so not sure if I’m still a newbie.

Yesterday I learned a valuable lesson while shaving my head.

I was using a 61 Gillette Fatboy. Setting 1.

For those that use a TTO, that last quarter turn after the gates close is super important. I learned this as head shaving requires frequent changes in direction and my palm managed to turn the base a little. So the aggressiveness went from 1 to about a 10.5 and the blade almost dislodging.

Now I have a bandage on my head and am taking antibiotics.

Please be careful. Learn from my mistake.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day.

That's a bummer 😞

Thanks for the PSA. Good luck

Wow, terrible experience. Something similar happened to me in my first shave with a Progress. I couldn’t understand why I ended up with so many cuts, then I realized I hadn’t twisted the knob completely so I was shaving with a higher setting than the maximum

Head shaving has always terrified me.

Hope no bits of brain were affected.
Only my pride. Not my first bad cut head shaving. I just hate that it was because I was careless in tightening the gates. I head shaved with cartridges too. I usually head shave 2-3 times a week. I think in the future I’m not going to use an adjustable on my head. I only ever use setting one up there. Probably just going to stick with a Gillette Tech dedicated for my head.

Thank you for the well wishes. Through frequent application of Muciprocin in combination with oral antibiotics, the skin has healed over and presently there’s only a little discoloration and some localized swelling. Going to stay with electric head shaving for about a week until the swelling goes down. I feel I’m going to have a dedicated Gillette Tech with an Astra Green from this point forward. 😆

I scalped myself last week the same way with a flair tip super speed. My better half had to put a piece of gauze and medical tape on the worst spot to keep me from bleeding all over myself and it took four days to heal enough for my next shave.
