My Gillette New OC (short) was the razor I selected for an attempt at a 2 pass BBS shave. The XTG AGT combo pulled it off with that razor but my SuperSpeed needs the full 3 pass shave to get me there. Any similar experiences?
Hello Kent, it happens that I too pulled off a 2 pass BBS with a 1919 Old Type just this weekend. Those old razors are amazing. Mine came with a floral pattern Pocket set that I restored about 6 months ago. The razor I had replated in nickel locally. I think it is one of my favorites. None of my TTO razors can do a 2 pass BBS. But that one can. Anyway have a good day sir.
In my opinion the number of strokes per pass is far more important than the number of passes. I get BBS with a more aggressive razor but this is not the whole story. In my experience exfoliation, sharp blade and good lather are a must to get a comfortable BBS. Knowing the growth pattern and doing buffing and J-Strokes on a good lather over a properly exfoliated skin will get you BBS.
