Trumpers Shaving Cream Irritation

I'm new to wet shaving and am still in the process of perfecting my technique. I really enjoy the smell of GFT creams (almond and coconut) but I have discovered after trial and error that the creams don't like me. I found this out after receiving some soap from Mystic Waters. With GFT after the first pass my face ignites after reapplying the cream for subsequent passes. I received a sample pack from GFT and all the GFT creams do this to me. I ordered the Mystic Waters soap for the coconut scent others spoke of. When I lather with it, I don't have the burning between passes. The ingredients aren't that different but something in there is irritating my skin. Any suggestions on some other types of creams that might resemble the almond GFT scent? On another note, the skin food line has worked so well for me and gives my face such a good feeling that I am a little shy of trying something else when it comes to balms. I love the skin food line but the scents are fairly limited. My one complaint is that after Mystic Water coconut lather and lime balm I tend to smell like a mixed drink I wish GFT skin food had a wider selection. Can anyone recommend products whose scents work well together and might not irritate my face?

I am not answering your question here but just wanted to give my 2c. As a newbie (and I assume) if a soap or cream is irritating you, keep it aside and go on to others. I have discovered that once my technique changed for the better over time, the irritation from some soaps actually wasn't there. So don't be in haste to label any product right now. Keep them in your re-visit list. Also, do you apply any product (e.g. face wash, pre-shave) as pre-prep? Try skipping it. Scents/ingredients sometimes react to the residue and cause irritation. Happy shaving, and welcome to B&B.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had considered what you mentioned and hope as my technique improves my sensitivity will fade with time. I reread the ingredients this evening and there are more differences than I thought. Not sure what I was reading last night.
