Truefitt & Hill Almond...

Alright, so I tried out a sample of T&H Almond shaving cream tonight. Routine was entirely the same. Then after pass #2 (xtg), I noticed my face was a little red. I decided to do 1 more (xtg) pass and now my face is bright red where the cream came into contact with my skin. This is definitely not irritation. I'm assuming it's an allergy. The other three sample T&H scents I tried I got great shaves from. So, does anyone know what is different about T&H Almond than the others (Grafton, West Indian Limes, and Ultimate Comfort)?

Skin allergies are fairly common when it comes to creams. Many folks are sensitive to Lavender, some to Almond...the funny thing is, you might find another Almond cream that works just fine for you.

It might be an ingredient besides EO or FO that you're allergic to; but I believe T&H creams have rather similar formulations so my guess is that you're having a reaction to the Almond. Do you have experience with any other Almond creams?

+1 What he said. I stay away from creams altogether because my skin reacts to them so strongly.

I haven't tried any other almond creams, so I don't know if I will get the same reaction. I normally use Proraso as my shaving cream. I know I'm not allergic to almonds though, as I have eaten them before with no problem. Perhaps the scent used to produce the almond smell combined with whatever is in the cream is what caused the reaction. This morning my face is fine. I used some hydrocortisone cream to sooth the fire that was on my face.

Contact allergies to the benzaldehyde in almond creams/soaps are rare, but can happen. My guess is that you're of the few allergic to the compound, given that you used the other T&H creams without allergy aftermath.
