Truefitt and Hill AS differences?

Are there any differences in the performance of the T&H aftershaves? I just finished my sample pack, and I loved the smell of the limes, but it did not seem to perform as well as any of the others. Was that just a bad batch or was I having a bad day? Or do they perform differently? I was not able to discern any differences in the performance of the creams.

I'm guessing you're speaking of the aftershave balms, rather than the splashes, since the splashes aren't included in the sample pack. T&H actually makes three different types of balm: Ultimate Comfort, "Classic," and the fragrance ranges, which include West Indian Limes, Trafalgar, 1805 and Grafton. The fragrance-range balms all use the same base, and theoretically should perform the same, although your skin may react differently to the different scenting agents. Ultimate Comfort balm uses a different (but similar) base, and is slightly heavier than the scented lines, but is scented only with lavender essential oil. The Classic balm (not sold on T&H North America's website, and not included in the sample pack) uses yet another formula, is even heavier, and has a pronounced wood-note scent; personally, I find it to be too heavy, and it burns when I put it on.

As for why you experienced a difference with the Limes balm, my first guess would be maybe your skin doesn't take kindly to the lime fragrance, since the balm itself should perform the same as the other fragrance-range balms. Try it again and see if you continue to notice it. It could have been a one-time thing. I suppose it's possible you got an off sample, but I doubt it.

Yes, I was talking about the balm. I ended up ordering the 1805, since I liked the performance better, but I will try some Limes when it runs out now that I know they are the same.

Thanks for the info.

Tried the Grafton AS as part of the sampler pack. A little goes a long way. Very impressive. Left my skin feeling great.
