Tried To Find A Circular Polarizer, Now Looking At Lenses

Okay, this hobby is dangerous. I was looking for a circular polarizer for my 50mm lens (SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm) since glare has been a bit of a problem in some shots. Of course, now I'm looking at replacing the lens instead, since I can't find a filter to fit it, and reviews of it are rather mediocre. Any suggestions for a replacement lens? I'm looking for fixed focal length lens, good for general quick shots and macros that would balance well against my 80-200mm lens.

I'm in the same boat!
No idea about Pentax. Good luck with your search. Is there any (D)SLR owner out thre with more than a couple of lenses who doesn't have a medium distance prime?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 35mm i plan on buying soon will stop my desire for another body.

RHVette:

Instead of replacing the lens, how about buying whatever filter might be available in a larger diameter in the brand of your choice and using a reducer adapter ring to mount it to your 50mm lens?

This happened to me. I already had a 58mm circular polarizer that came with another camera, so for my Electro 35 GSN I ended up buying off eBay a 58mm to 55mm reducer ring. It works just fine.

I am not familiar with your camera, but it should work as long as the larger diameter filter doesn't interfere with any viewfinder, rangefinder, etc.

So, you might look for an adapter ring first. See what sizes are available (if any) that can step down to 50mm. Then, look for whatever filters are available for that ring.

You can go from a larger filter using step down rings much easier and better than trying to step up. Stepping up will cause problems, i.e. vignetting. Circular filters should not be hard to find. I found a decent uv at wally. You should be able to find what you need at any camera store.
Amazon has them for under $25.
