So I have shaved with a EJ89 with Gillette Blacks, Sharks, and Persona (all five blades a piece).
I have tried CO Bigelow's green tube shaving cream, Dr. Harris' Marlborough, and Mama Bears Aged Spice Shave soaps.
I have tried Mama Bears' Winter Shave Balm, Pinaud Clubman, and my old stand in Old Spice (Classic).
I have tried cold shaving after reading a thread here....OH that was a BAD idea so far. It did NOT work for me. Felt like I was raking my face.
I have done warm lather, regular lather, and shaving in the shower and my fav's so far:
EJ89 with Persona blades, Dr. Harris' soap (with high recommendations still coming for CO Bigelow), shaving at the sink, just after a shower, warming the bowl for the lather, but not keeping it too warm. It breaks the lather down quicker and I swear that it loses some of its viscosity...I tried three days on (warm lather) three days of just a warm bowl to start and three days back on...and the day where I let the bowl sit out by iteself holding the lather, but not in a warm water bath..works best.
I think Pinaud is famous because it does it right. Inexpensive but awesome even in winter is the Clubman original aftershave. Good stuff.
So this is where I stand as a "sorta noob" in the wet shave game.
Also, I was wrong when I posted I had done a BBS shave the first time. It was technically a DFS because a small patch under the right side of my chin along my neckline has a weird pattern to the beard and I have to shave diagnol across my neck to get it. I don't like the feeling that causes, so I leave that patch as a DFS.
