Traveling to Slobbovia. What should I look for?

Pursuing almost any hobby can skew the way we look at the world. I know that my hobbies affect me that way.

Following the forums here, I've noticed frequent threads with titles like this one, usually from a fellow American. "I'm traveling to Paris, London, Tokyo, Rome, Shanghai . . ." What shaving stuff should I look for?

I'm not criticizing, after all, who am I to point the finger? On a recent trip within the US, without a regular computer, I was still checking out eBay on my phone. I just find it amusing that people traveling to exciting foreign locations are thinking about what shaving gear they can find there.

Having been one of those guys I can say it isn't all we think about, but it is thought about.

The great thing is, when the planets align, and you get the right answers, you are rewarded handsomely.

I'll say it again, that's quite a haul there, Phil. :thumbup1:

I live in a very small town, with very few shopping options. If it weren't for the PIFs here, I'd be only using what I could find at WalMart and Dollar General.

I use every opportunity I can when I travel to look for different stores (especially antique stores) to look for new shave gear. And I just travel within the US.

If I could travel abroad where some of the shaving supplies, like blades and shave creams, are more commonplace in local stores... I'd buy up some stockpiles!

Would you mind terribly telling us what some of those items go for in India?

That depends on the quantity you buy and how much time you are willing to argue.

I got the Black 7 O'Clocks for 30 Rps /pack down from 45 list price because I bought 100. I only discovered after the deal was made that they were the 7 blade packs instead of the 5 blade packs (two of which you can see in front of the 7 blade packs) that works out to about 9 cents a blade.

That is the nature of our hobby. SWMBO and I are planning a trip to Barcelona and the Basque country. I am already planning to find out where to buy Floid, La Toja, etc. We will certainly tour and enjoy, but I know I will sneak in an hour somewhere to buy some stuff.

:w00t: And I thought I had a problem when I returned from the Philippines with four bottles of A/S! I tip my hat to you sir!
