Travel Silver Tip Badger brush Recommendation

I use a Silver Tip Badger Brush at home, but do not like traveling with it for two reasons:

1. If the airline loses it (check my bag due to razor blades), I am out my only brush.
2. I prefer something better than putting it in toilet paper cardboard rolls.

Any advise?

Keep it in your carry-on, I use a Simpson Major and it has held up for years with a heavy travel schedule...it may not be worth the investment for someone who does not travel frequently.

I can almost always arrange to get blades at my destination and keep a disposable in my dopp kit if that fails. I leave all blades behind on my return, so don't have to check a bag.

Well, it's not a silvertip but when travelling I use the T&H Super badger travelling brush. When comparing it with my Muhle silvertip I must say they are almost on par. Good luck with finding a nice travelling brush.

There are many options for traveling with brushes. People here get pill bottles from the pharmacist to put their brushes in or buy brushes that come in cases. If you're afraid of losing it, just put it in your carry on case.

You may want to consider a synthetic, btw, for use on the road. I use badger, but not for a reason that's justifiable. Some very experienced brush experts have been testing synthetic brushes and there simply seems to no longer be a reason not to use them...the quality is that high. They dry out very quickly which is a consideration for the traveler.

I check everything, but there's nothing in there I can't afford to lose. You don't want to risk that with your Rooney finest.

Have you considered the darker side and leaving your silver tip at home?
Would you consider pure, boar/badger mix, or even horse?

Or maybe the Wee Scot? So tiny, you can easilily throw that in any carry on.

This. When I travel I use an Omega 11047 with the Simpson Case. Fits perfectly.

You have the old Case travel tube that has holes on the lid. The new one that I have has a large hole on the bottom of the tube that only accomodates brushes that have the similar handle with as the Case.

You're absolutely correct. I just bought it a month ago from WCS and didn't realize there was a newer one out there!

I had a Vulfix superbadger travel brush that came with a sturdy plastic tube. Great brush, around $60 many places. I eventually sold it, as I prefer a slightly larger brush and don't mind sticking it in my carry-on luggage.

But as others here have suggested, there are more affordable options, including many Omega boar brush models under $20.

I use my Berkeley in Best for both home and travel. Dries out quick enough not to get funky on the road, and I find that it's softer than my Rooney 3/1 Super.

When I travel, I use a brush that provides me a good lather but is small enough to dry quickly and is inexpensive to replace if lost.
It's usually a small Omega boar, $10 to replace, a Vie-Long horse hair, $20 to replace, or one of my vintage restores, $30 to replace.

Omega 599 in a pill bottle.

This will probably be my next brush. WCS is selling them for $40. Silvertip in a small size that is large enough to be useful even with creams in a bowl. I have been using the Omega 11047 which is a mixed boar and badger in the same size envelope as the 599.

+1. If you're comfortable with the Mighty Midget (11047) the 599 is a good choice. Heck, the Might Midget is great too but if you want to keep it Silvertip maybe the 599 is a good choice. Omega Silvertip is super soft and slightly floppy. I almost went for the 599 but wanted something slightly taller: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...6-Lucretia-Borgia-Voluptuous-Bloom?highlight=

In the same vein, the Turkish No.6 from Bestshave dot net is great for travel ... and at home too. Performs well with sticks, cremes, soft/hard soap, very versatile.
And best quality, it only costs $2.45. Order some Arko sticks, some blades.

I hate to admit this, but I never use a tube to put my brush in when traveling. I use a hanging dopp kit and place the brush into one of the pockets or compartments. It dries faster and never gets damaged. I don't worry too much about damage anyway because, well, its a cheap brush.
