Top three razors: vintage and new.

I swear there was a Top 5 or something along those lines thread. Could you lead me to it?

If there is no such current thread, what are your Top 3 Vintage and Top 3 New razors in your rotation?

1. Gillette Tech (all I have so far :001_smile)

Top 3 Vintage:(in no particular order)
Gillette Fatboy
Gillette long comb Bar Handle New
Gillette '50s Superspeed (Z3)
I don't have a New list, as all I own are vintage Gillette DEs and a Gem Micromatic. Saving the Gem for a celebratory after move shave, so I've yet to even load a blade in it.:001_rolleThat's probably the only reason it doesn't make my list, as from what I've heard, it will dethrone all of my DE razors permanently.

Top 3 vintage:

Fatboy
Open Comb Micromatic
Ever-Ready 1924

Top 3 New:

Futur
Futur
Futur

(it shaves as effectively as any other 3 razors COMBINED:thumbup1:)

I don't buy new DEs or safety razors so here you go: first on top.

Schick injector e type
Gem lather catcher
Gillette new improved.

I think you are probably looking for this thread:

As for myself:

Late 40's Aristocrat (early 50's count, as well)
50's Super Speed
60's Aristocrat - "Slim Adjustable" style

New razors? There are new razors? :001_huh:

(I'm still playing with a Fatboy and a Slim, but haven't used either long enough to make an opinion)

Top 3 Vintage, and they are so close I can't say which is better:

1901 Ever-Ready Lather Catcher
1912 Gem Damaskeene
1914 Ever-Ready (Lil' Lather Catcher)

Top 3 New(er):

1952 Super Speed
1956 Super Speed
Only other newer one is a Fusion (I think it's around here somewhere)

I count these as newer as I learned to shave with a '40s style SS. :biggrin1:

As was said before...they make new ones that aren't plastic?

I'm an adjustable guy, so in order:

Fatboy
Slim Adjustable
Super Adjustable-Long Handle

I dont like new razors as much, the only one I own is my 23C I started with.

Vintage:
Fatboy
Ranger Tech
Guiding Eye Gem

New:
Merkur Vision
Merkur HD
Merkur 1904

Side note: IMO the best looking and well made razors are produced by Muhle.

Vintage: Fatboy, LC New, Red Tip Superspeed (honorable mention; slim adj).

Modern: Merkur Slant HD, Merkur 11C, Merkur 1904 OC (honorable mention: Muhle R41 if you like a crazy aggressive shave)

Note I have not tried a lot of modern razors; so that list may change for me in the near future (or should I say Futur?)
