OK, I have seen a ton of drinking Threads and I see a lot about general favorites but I just wanted to see what you would put in the top 5 of your liquor cabinet

I do prefer beer...but there's already a couple of those threads around here.


Edit: I used to really enjoy Captain Morgan, but drank way too much of it in my early years of college (a handle per week) and now just the smell of it sickens me.

Only 5??? Oh man...

Stolichnaya Vodka: No one does it better than the Russians. Moderately expensive, but gets the job done. Mixes reasonably well and pretty good straight. I have no taste for the so-called "premium" vodkas -- I'd much rather stick with my middle-shelf Russian rut than pay $50 a bottle for something I can't even taste.

Bombay Sapphire Gin: I drink martinis with gin only. If James Bond was real, and I caught him ordering a vodka martini, I'd laugh in his face and call him a girlie man. Ok, probably not, but what can a man be pugnacious about if not his drinking preferences? Certainly not the most "traditional" of gins, but the one that best suits my palate.

Patrón Silver Tequila: My tequila comes not with a worm, but a bumblebee. There was a time when I couldn't get enough of this stuff -- sips like a dream, shoots to kill, and provides an aire of refinement that only loading a crappy margarita with booze from a $60 bottle can bring.

Bacardi Coco Rum: Here's where James Bond gets to laugh back at me. This stuff is my guilty pleasure. I love the taste of coconut, and the 70 proof Bat is much more respectable than the paltry 48 proof Malibu. There's not much I haven't tried mixing this stuff with, and its all damned delicious. Try it as a replacement for the vodka in your white russian.

Crown Royal: If loving cheap, blended Canadian whisky is wrong, I don't want to be right. I love the versitility, smoothness and taste. I can totally appreciate a deliciously complex Scotch, but the Crown is the Salter Citrus of my liquor cabinet. Stuff never lets me down. I don't have to feel guilty about pouring it over the rocks, or exploring the vast inner landscape that starts to appear about halfway through the bottle .

Well, I splurged and remedied that situation. I just bought a bottle of The Balvenie 15-yr sgl barrel. $70. Ouch!

Man, its good! And I'm not normally a scotch drinker.
