Too many razors...

I bought my first razor this summer and figured I would try some different blades and creams, but that I was finished buying razors. (Why would I need more than 1 razor?)
I kept reading comments about guys having a "rotation" or razors and losing track of how many times a blade had been used. I kept thinking how crazy all of this sounded. Everyone on the forum kept posting pictures of different razors and recommending their favorites. I became curious and picked up a couple of other razors. Then I decided to try an adjustable since it would be such a different experience for me, and of course, I needed a razor from the year of my birth.
Then I started going to flea markets and finding more old razors. I don't want to collect them, but I keep finding razors that I enjoy using.
Now I have a shelf of my medicine cabinet that is full of razors and I don't have an stand big enough to hold them all. I have a tough time keeping track of how many times I have used a blade too.
How did this happen? Why should I need more than 1 razor?

He will learn, we are the biggest group of enablers you will find...

I think you have just the right amount, heck one more won't hurt!!!:sneaky2:

I have maybe 20 or so in my rotation, always fun to visit new friends.
but I always use it till the blade is spent (3 shaves and out for me) so all but one is always empty.

if you're good with excel, it can become your best friend.

I have an excel sheet with a log that i keep for every shave. As soon as I finish each shave at night, I spend a minute or two updating my sheets. Here's my setup:

In sheet 1, I keep track of times I've used the blade. Because I usually have 3 or 4 razors in rotation and each with own blade, I needed this to keep track of how many times I've used the blade.

In sheet 2, I keep a log of all the hardware I used for each shave. I have tons of samples of creams and soaps. I"m a newbie so I dont rotate these that much. I want to get the safety razor-blade combo set before I find the other good stuff. Still, I created columns with drop-downs of all the stuff I own and will use at some point.
Date of Shave; Safety razor used; blade used; brush used; cream/soap used; after shave. I also have columns for logging in experience. So I have a irritation (yes/no); tugging (yes/no); cuts (weepers, bad ones, etc); closeness of shave (DFS, BBS, etc); and overall comments.

I figured once I start mixing it up I'll have a hard time keeping track of how I feel about each one. This way, I have a record of exactly what works for me.

So a short answer to your many safety razor blade dilemma: keep a log. :)

My wife said I had too many.
She wanted to bet me I had over 37 razors.
I had to stop and think about it.
Glad I did not take the bet, I have over 40.

One more razor won't hurt......

I see the problem.

You need a bigger medicine cabinet, which has room in it for a bigger stand, as well as room for a netbook computer. This would be able to plug into that power outlet that somebody thought you might need while you shave - how thoughtful of them, but possibly they thought you would need it for an electric razor. The horrors!

Glad we here at B&B can help you resolve your problem with how to store an increasing collection of razors.

PS how dare you post such a thread without even a link to your gallery - let alone pics of eg the razor from your birth year! :thumbdown

after all these years, I finally understand why my wife has all those shoes.. less than a month into DE I have 2 razors and 3 more on the way and still looking to acquire more..

men:razors::women:shoes

:)

:001_huh: I'm a bit confused.
By your description (to the OP), you have only just begun.
If you think you have too many, then you don't have enough. :tongue_sm

It doesn't make any sense, that's true, but this is how the game is played.
AD's can't be cured.

I've lost track. I've been in this for 6 months and I think I have about 50 in total (DE, SE, injector, and straight).

You beat me to it. I use the same argument with hand bags. Men:brushes--women:handbags. :001_smile

I can remember being embarrassed when I had 9 razors. Why would anyone want that many?

There have been quite a few acquisitions since then. I'm not exactly embarrassed of the number I have now, but, well, I think I'll keep it a secret.

You spent too much time on this forum. B&B is filled with people who are suffering from ADs. After reading through their posts, it's only natural that you want to try what they are doing just to see how it feels.

I sense that you're regret buying all those razors? Maybe try selling them here?
