too dang slippery??

shaved with some stephens no lather shave cream today on recommendation of a barber. horrible shave! thought my razor was in bad shape! ready to rehone strop do the whole bit to fix this! decided to use my favorite arko soap, BOOM! perfect shave with the same razor! could it be that some creams are so slippery they actually lubricate the beard to the point that the razor slides over the hair rather than cut it?? have not had the experience before. wonder if its me, or anyone else has experienced this.

Yes, I have experienced the same thing by adding a few drops of KMF cream to a TOBS soap. The razor was gliding over the whiskers. Too slick a lather resulted in a not so close and uneven shave.

The ideal cream would only be slippery on the skin, not the whiskers.
If I have too choose, I'll err on the side of too slippery.
I mainly have trouble with too slippery when shaving WTG. Not much of a problem XTG and ATG.

This is what works for me...and it works wonders:

1. Use Stephan's on beard...leave for 2 minutes (after a good shower)
2. Wash off
3. Put regular lather on and your usual routine

I never used it directly to shave. But, even after washing off, Stephan's does an amazing job of lubricating your whiskers

Hope that helps,
Robert
