I think the Japanese strops are 24" long, making the 2 3/4" look narrower. My strops are all 29" but that includes the contoured handles which break up the shape making them look wider.
Most European strops...Dovo, Jemico, etc.... actually range from 1 1/2" to 2" for the most part. These ahve been around for years, hence my "Old School" name for my 2" strops. The 2 1/2" is typical of most older American made models from Illinois, etc.... hence my "Traditional" name. The 3", well for me it is overkill, but it is also what 80% or more of people order...hence the "New Standard" name.
