Tomorrow's Blade of Choice

So I've been using Derby for the past year and I was content with the shaves they produced but I wanted to broaden my horizons regarding blades. I just received a sample pack from WCS and I was wondering in what order people would try the following blades:
Personnna Red (Israel)
Crystal (Israel)
Astra
Feather

Also, when getting through a sample pack would one use up all the blades of a certain kind before moving on to the next kind?

Thanks,
Antonio

The order you have them in looks good. I used 1 blade 3-4 times, made mental notes and moved on to the next blade brand. You could go through the whole pack, but it will take along time to sample all the brands.

The Crystals will be more forgiving so start with that blade, then progress to the Astra. Leave the Feather until you are confident with your technique. Feathers aren't the difficult blades they are sometimes made out to be but they do deserve respect when you use them.

You are missing a lot of Gillette blades in the round up ! DE has a lot of choices to last one's life time !

I know, that's the beauty of it! I have some Gillette 7 o'clock stainless (russia) at home and so far I am quite pleased with the results. But with these new blades arriving I wanted to test the waters, so to speak.

I would use them in the order you have listed.

When I was going thru my sample pak, I used two of each blade for 3 shaves each then moved to the next one, unless I absolutely hated them (Dorcos).

Here's what I do. I take a five pack and install the blades in five different razors. Then I rotate each razor in sequence after one shave 3-4 times or more. By the time I'm done, I have the picture on what that brand of blade does from new to used and in five different shaving tools.

When you move on to the next brand of blade, the difference between the first and the second will jump out at you.

For example, it could be blade choice #2 is noticably better than blade choice #1. Continue on and eliminate #1 when you buy blades again.

Or, blade choice #2 is disaapointing compared to #1 right off the bat. You really don't have to continue with #2 to the end then, and you can start in with blade choice #3, and so on.
