TOBS vs Cyril R. Salter?

Which cream is better? Never tried either and both get great reviews... I know.. both are great.. but if you had to choose one which would it be???

I give Salter a veeeeeeeery slight edge in terms of performance. Unless it's TOBS Avocado, then the TOBS wins.

I have had at least equal results between TOBS, and Salter with the 3 Salter Creams I have sampled (Sublime Citrus, Fresh Mint, and Sandalwood). I would give the edge to Salter, simply because some of their scents are just decadent. The Fresh Mint smells just like Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. It's smells so yummy!!

By the way, maybe you already know this, but you can buy Salter creams for a very good price here:

So which scent of Salter's is your favorite? Gonna order some tonight from Bull Goose but can't decide which scent..... already have a couple mint creams.. so either gonna get the Sublime Citrus or the Indian Sandalwood.....

I've always enjoyed Salters performance, but their scents are always pretty weak... don't get me wrong they are all good, just not very strong.

And I've tried most of them. If I remember correctly I have the citrus, mint, vetyver, and indian sandalwood (my favorite). I haven't tried the rose and am not sure what other scents there are.

Of those two choices, I would give the edge to the Sublime Citrus. This was my first try with Sandalwood, and while the spicy cinnamon of the Sandalwood is pleasant, it just doesn't compare to the smells so great I am tempted to eat it citrus goodness of the "Sublime Citrus".

I like Salter's Rose, but I haven't tried the others.

To me Salter's is above TOBS because every TOBS I've tried has an extra artificial scent - I can smell one of their ingredients and I don't like it. Trumpers smells fine but irritates my skin. Salter smells nice and is nice to my skin, so it's the winner as far as English cream goes for me.

if memory serves the CS is also a better value given the respective sizes of the tubs!

From my review of the Salter Creams:

"Price: This comes in a 6.76 ounce container. TOBS comes in a 5.3 ounce container. This costs 18.00 per tub, TOBS costs 13.50 per tub. Doing the math, this costs $2.66 per ounce, and TOBS costs $2.56 per ounce. So there is a ten cent difference between the two, that being considered, this is an excellent value."

So actually Salter costs $.10 cents more per ounce. I will gladly pay $.10 cents extra per ounce for the wonderful smell of the Salter.

ended up getting TOBS Avocado, Salter's Rose and some Proraso splash which all arrived today...:smile:

I ordered Cyril Salter's Mint and Rose and went through Bullgoose at your recommendation. I got a sample of the sandalwood with it. Well, I tried the sandalwood this morning and absolutely loved it. The cream has a beautiful texture to it and it lathers well. The smell is extraordinary. I've used the Trumper sandalwood and Salters, to me, is MUCH better. Thanks for the recommendation on Bullgoose as they wer great to deal with and shipping was very fast.
