TOBS: Do you throw the inner plastic cover?

I was wondering if I am supposed to remove the inner transparent plastic cover on my TOBS.

I kept it because I wanted the creme to stay "fresh" longer, but come to think of it, I don't think that this cover is doing anything to keep it fresher. It might have been used as a transport safeguard so the creme doesn't splash all over the inside of the real cover.

Is one supposed to throw the inner transparent cover or keep it in the jar?

I throw them away. Don't think they help and they are only in the way.

+1 to this. I suppose that if you had a tub lying around for years and years it MIGHT help to keep that inner lid to help to make a better seal and keep the cream from drying out... but the hassle factor of having to remove it each time is just too much for me.

The more I think about it, the more I am sure that this inner lid is a smart contraption only meant for transporting purposes because when I received mine, that inner cover was covered with the creme and scooping that was really easy....much easier than if it was the real lid that was covered with it.

Once the cream sits on your sink and doesn't move, that extra lid, since it is not hermetically sealing the cream, will not bring any more freshness to the table than the real cover of the jar.

So in that same token, I am getting rid of mine and liberating my inner lid! :)

After awhile, the inner lid will stick to the screw on top, and you can unscrew them both at the same time. At least mine always have, so I never throw them away.

In the very beginning of my brush and cream career, I bought some ToBS and tossed the inner lid. A sort time later both the screw on lids from my two bowls cracked and I wish I would have kept the inner lid to keep the air out. I say keep them on hand, just in case.

People saying this inner cover does something positive should hang out with those guys who insist you need to loosen the knob on a Fatboy/Slim before making an adjustment. I believe these people all subscribe to voodoo.

I toss the plastic but always loosen the know on my fatboy/slim before adjusting. I guess I'm half assed voodoo.

LOL.

What is the loosening and then re-tightening of the slim/fatty provides as far as the adjustments go?

Great, before this thread I never even noticed the lid liner. Mine kind of clicks into place so I think I'll keep it.

Are we talking of the same plastic cover used by CF as well? If so, then I've kept mine and glad I did. Had to travel at the weekend and the container, in motion, had tilted so as to have the cream resting on the underside of the cover. Had this been in the lid itself, a messy affair it would have been. I say keep it.

That is the only reason I think it is there. For transport purposes.
