TOBS Clear Plastic Inner Lid

Newbie question here, folks. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

I just had my first DE wetshave this morning. It went well (CCS, I'd say).

What I'm not sure about is the inner clear plastic lid on my TOBS Avocado tub. Do I keep it? Do I throw it away? Was it just for shipping?

Here's a video to show what I'm talking about:

I threw some away and kept some because they stuck to the lid. They serve no purpose whatsoever.

I suspect that you are incorrect. Otherwise, they wouldn't be there in the first place. My guess is that it's in the lid to form a tight-fitting seal between the bottom and the top, at least until it gets to the customer.

I'm curious to know what other tubs of cream have to say about this, though? Do they have something similar?

(I leave/left mine in, it's not in the way for me)

I know the tub of Castle Forbes I have has a inner lid and I've wondered the reasoning myself. I haven't taken them out either. On the TOBS I have, the inner clear lid stays pretty well stuck to the threaded outer lid. On the CF, I have to remove it every time. It's kinda annoying but oh well.

They are just there to keep the cream from spilling around during shipping and to keep it fresh until opened. Once you have opened it do whatever you want, mine is attached to the lid so it stays in place.

After a while the inner lid will attach itself to the inner-outer lid.
That has happened to all my TOBS creams. Dont sweat it.

If it fall off when opening, just put a dab of cream on the back and stick it in place in the lid. Mine are still stuck there a year later.

A reply from TOBS to an e-mail I sent asking about this:

"Please do not throw this disk away as this seals the container and helps the product to last longer."

They are meant to form a seal, but they do not. I previously owned three tubs of TOBS shaving cream. I opened all three and the inner lids were just lightly laid on top. I have also seen this at multiple stores that carry all the TOBS creams.

I do agree that they are meant to protect the cream, but they are not laid on properly.

I left mine in place, I will eventually cut it to fit, and act as a cover on one of my vintage Old Spice mugs with soap puck.
