Being new to straights, I started with a "sight-unseen" but wanted a couple of other low cost SRs to develop my skills (skills, I should acknowledge, that not only remain a distant hope but are increasingly elusive). I was having real difficulty with the sight-unseen but was getting ok shaves with both a new 6/8 Dovo Bismarck (not really fitting the "lower-cost" criteria) and a really sweet razor from Bob Keyes, who couldn't have been more helpful. But then a razor showed up that I had purchased from Brian. It's nothing to look at and was priced accordingly, but oh my what an edge he put on this thing. I felt like I was holding a Feather DE blade in my hand. The shave was quite unlike any of my (admittedly limited) prior shaves. Incredibly smooth with fantastic beard reduction. It's a spike point, which I was a bit nervous about as I felt I could have easily opened up a blowhole somewhere on my cheek with it. No cuts, nicks or irritation but my second pass lather had a lovely pink tinge to it from assorted weepers. Of course those were all about my technique as this blade really allowed me to complete the shave in a reasonable amount of time (in other words, less time than it takes to do a heart transplant). This was my first truly DFS with a straight and I really have Brian to thank for it. I just may keep at this for a while longer.
