What's new

There's no such thing as a bad razor blade.

in my Parker 94R. This razor has been so awesome for me that I have gone through all the blades I considered bad, which I still have in my collection. I don't want to name them, since I know they are bound to be someone's favorite. The point is this razor truly performs better than any other (for me) no matter what I put in it.

Has any one else had a similar experience? If so, with what razor?

A lot would depend how tough a person's beard is. Some guys grow "peach fuzz." And some guys grow "piano wire."[/

Peach fuzz - piano wire? I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I grow a full beard but I wouldn't consider it piano wire. Anyways, like most of us, I find some blades to be better for me than others - except when I use my Parker 94R. They all seem to work great with this razor.

Anyone have a similar experience?

IMO dorcos are bad blades. All of them. Other than that I havehad favorites but most were acceptable except the dorcos.

It seems that I get a good shave out of just about any blade in my Murker razors (34,37,23), but I can still tell a difference and have preferences.

Dorcos are one the blades on my "bad" list. Recently I put one in my Parker 94R and had 7 great shaves with it.

300 or 301? The 301s are pretty good from what I've heard but I've found the 300s to be just dull. Same with Merkurs. I'd be happy to send you a couple of each if you'd like to try them. PM me if interested.

Thanks Scott. I have tried them both and before my R94 I found them both to be rather dull.

buca3152, you're right I am making lemonade out of lemons. It has become somewhat of a challenge now - to find a bad blade in my Parker 94R

I completely agree with you Michael. I previously had no real intention of using the "bad blades" that I am enjoying with my Parker 94R and they don't work well with my other favorite razors. I will not be buying any more of the blades that don't work well with all or most of my favorite razors. Even though they all work well my 94R.

Well, I know you're experienced and have come to your conclusions through the scientific method. That you agree with me just shows one more example of GMTA.

Oh, there are bad blades - I bought some on a market in Turkey (silly I know) and they were unusable. It was like shaving with vintage Gillette Blue Blades. Impossible.

I have the same experience with the same razor, the Parker 94R. It may be because of the blade gap is so big. All I know is every blade I have tried in it works just fine. $Parker_Hefty.jpg

Well today I did use a blade that I still find to be bad, a Merkur. Even in my 94R it still pulls like crazy. So I guess I have to say, every blade has been good except for Merkur. I still love this razor.
