I've been "wet-shaving" since the mid-70's but using a double/single edge razor for only 2 years. I know I'm preaching to the choir with the vets but at this point I never have a bad shave. In the beginning you spend so much time trying this and that and wondering what makes a shave work or what makes a shave not so pleasant but all along you are gaining experience. I can use any razor, soap, cream, blade and still get a really good shave. I will say that a truly poor quality razor blade isn't any fun but can still coax a good shave if careful. Good water, lather and experience is all that's needed.
I'm just sort of putting this out there for any new guys that might be frustrated. The damn fine shaves+ will come.
