The Who

Still rocking. Nice to see Townsend doing windmills at the super bowl. I'm gonna have to cue up my Live at Leeds vinyl again this week, methinks. Anyone else catch that? And what's your favorite Who album?

For a football game half time show, that rocked! Sure beat the Sister Mary Elephant Elementary School Marching Band.
Favorite Who album? Come on...

Kinda sad for me...

I remember "The Who" from the sixties.. The growl is gone from Daltry's voice.. Townshend looks ready for the Nursing Home. Just don't have the urgency they once did...

But, I guess none of us from that era do anymore.... I have to take my Advil and get to bed now....

Who's grandson was on the drums?

I was standing up dancing and looking as out of place as them, and enjoying it as much as them!! ) Right now "more than a feeling" is playing in some commercial. We had/have some great music didn't we? Nothing has come along better!!!

The performance wasn't as polished as it could have been, but lip syncing? No.

I was pleased to see that they used laser lights. The Who pioneered their use for performances, but the technology back then wasn't up to what they showed tonight.

Roger Daltrey is my favourite singer, but I have to admit, that performance was a little shakey. If that was the first time someone heard The Who performing, I'm afraid no one would like them. Their timing, tone, and technique were all over the place. The only thing that saved them was that people were recalling how great they sounded in the 60's & 70's. I know in my mind, I was hearing the recordings instead of the bad performance I was watching. I still think Roger Daltry is the best rock singer.

This is exactly how I felt. I was really glad they were playing their classic hits. The music was great. The performance, not so much. It would have been a lot better if he had smashed his guitar.

Caught it by accident as I was not watching the game (duck and cover!) and thought it was a dam' fine halftime show. Daltry's voice has survived better than most of his contemporaries.
