The Story So Far

Hi Everyone
So the adventures of DE shaving so far, well after getting my EJ89L along with a Semogue 1850 brush and Astra SP blades mixed with some Body Shop Maca Root cream I began the journey. Everything went well the setup shaved as close as my Gillette Sensor albiet with a few weepers each time, and then the call of other razors began, fist up a new and unused aluminium ball end tech wich turned out to be hopeless for me, too light and took about 10 passes , next up a fat handled tech which had some of the gold starting to flake off so I polished back to the nickel with a hint of the brass showing underneath, looks great now but only shaves a bit better but not much.
Next up a almost minty gold Gillette New, now this is better once I got used to the angle change, so I tried some Rapira stainless blades which were kindly given to me by alpla444 from the Shave Den as this is who I got the fat handled from on fleabay, these were ok but I still prefer the Astras funny enough they seem to shave better after the first shave.
Next totry was some Palmolive shave stick, ten bob from tesco, not good at all my face came out in loads of red spots after each shave so that has gone to the wife with the aluminium tech, so back to the maca root, tonight I tried my Ej89 again but even that doesnt feel as close as the old new even shimmed. Sooo what to try now maybe some other blades with the new as I think that is my instrument of choice now, however If I see a short comb I may try one of them, as its in great shape Im toying with the idea of getting it nickel or chrome plated but we will see.
So far I am enjoying my shaving for once in my life and actually look forward to it but I must learn to control the urge to try more razors, as for blades any alternate recommendations?.
Thanks
Mark

Nice razors. For DE blades, I like Astra SP, Gillette 7 o'clock Yellows, and Personnas (red pack). But it would be a good idea to order a sample pack of blades so you can find out what works best for you.

Don't underestimate some of the hardware you don't like know. Put these Techs away, and revisit them in a few months. You'll be surprised. Good luck with your shaving adventures.

You have some nice razors! I have the aluminum Tech and the New - the aluminum is a bit light but, the New should give good shaves. Sounds like you need a blade with more juice. Everyone here says that Feathers are the sharpest... ninja sharp as they say.
