The smell of Erasmic

Hmmmm.....

I ordered in some soaps and creams to try and Erasmic was one of them. I opened the cap and took a good whiff and the smell is well...well....cant quite place a word on it.....but just...UNUSUAL! What I get is a hint of old people smell, plus a kind of "manly" smell, and another note that my nose is interpreting as a kind of "skunk" smell (like skunked beer). ???????????????? :001_huh:

Boy, this one is hard to figure. Maybe my nose is all messed up because I have been around the smell of ARKO at the same time.

I am going to shave with this stuff once and if the performance is not on par with Proraso....off to the BST it goes for a trade.

it is hard to describe though. It reminds me of old stuff - '50s/'60's hair cream with a powdery note to it. It's an old-fashioned smell.

All Erasmic lather cream is now NOS, so you might have a tube that's gone off. It shouldn't be skunky. What I get from it is a powdery/spicy barbershop aroma.

I am not detecting anything powdery at all. Maybe it is bad. I will try giving it a whiff later and see if I pick up any powdery notes.

I ordered a tube of Erasmic, used it twice, and haven't since. The smell is definitely not my cup of tea. And, while it lathers fine, it's definitely a step below the TOBS, Proraso level.

Now that my nose has settled down for awhile I took another whiff and the powdery notes came through but it is very subtle. Nothing amazing at all in my opinion.

Old style i would call it, i actually like the smell, love the cream, the soap is a totally different scent, but i have this in my current rotation and have now gotten used to the smell, and i now also love the soap.

I love the scent of Erasmic, but there is nothing cologne-ish about it. Words that come to mind are masculine, utilitarian, subtle, and old-school. The prominent note I get is talc. Even though I know he never used it, it reminds me of my father; it's definitely old-school in that way. I find it's performance outstanding; easily produces abundant lather, and provides a comfortable, close, moisturizing shave. I'm speaking of course, of the original cream in the silver metal tube. I believe it's being discontinued so I stocked up last time. All for a very reasonable price.

I love all the Erasmic stick/cream/bowl soap. They all smell different but work really well and are inexpensive. I would say the stick and the cream both have a sort of olde world barber shop type smell, the bowl soap is harder to define but it's fine for me.

I actually got around to shaving with Erasmic tonight and WOW.....works just as good as Proraso and the smell actually became pleasant once outside of the tube. This one is a keeper!

I love the smell of Erasmic cream in a tube, kind of like a masculine, baby powder scent (do those cancel each other out?).
I have noticed it leaves a powdery residue on my razor, but that doesn't stop my love for the scent and the great lathering it provides.

Erasmic cream is one my favorite "go to" creams. For me its not about the smell, although I don't find it offensive, its about the great shave quality it provides. One of the best creams and for only $3.75 per tube.

I have a tube of Erasmic and although its not my favorite its definitely in the rotation. I follow it up with Booster's Jickey.

I'm not keen on the soaps at all. I have the Soap in the Black Tub, non-tallow reformulated stick and the re-reformulated stick. The smell is not to my liking at all.

Now the Creams, that's a different matter entirely. There is just something about the smell of the cream that really appeals to me. It's a bit of an olde worlde barbershop scent that I pick up on that I find satisfying. As for the shave? the cream gives a really comfortable cushion and leaves my face nicely hydrated. It's good hence why I have about 7 or 8 tubes of the cream stashed away

Tthe best attempt I can make at describing the scent of Erasmic is that of a soft subtle spicy English Leather type of smell. Its a truly great cream as I find in all of the Erasmic stable.
