The Simpson curse

I made a mistake, I bought a chubby2 2 band. This brush is great, I face lather and the lather just grows on your face, Now nothing else I have comes close, Turtle suggested this brush after a saw it in BST and now my soc 2 band, even a duke in best seems to pale in comparison. Do I have to drop 2 bills or more on every brush I buy from now on ? if I do than so be it but what's my next brush to best the king of the den any suggestions ?

I know how you feel...absolutely love my Chubby 2 2 Band and is the brush I reach for more often when I'm home...I own several chubbies in different hair grades Best/Super 2 & 3 Band but this guy is perfection IMO. Second to the CH2 2Band is the Chubby 1 2Band...especially if you're a face latherer..awesome brush too.

Congrats on the Chubby ll, I hope you continue to enjoy it. Do you have to spend big bucks to equal that performance, nope. Will it be the same experience, no. All brushes have something to offer that another may not, that is what I love about having several brushes. They all off a different experience and that keeos things fun and interesting.

Chubby 2 2-Band is an awesome brush, and my second favorite brush only after my M&F Stubby Rooney Finest 2XL..........

Im thinking Rooney 2 or 3xl in best or finest, how close is best compared to there 2 band

The Rooney XL line is all two band hair and is not offered in different grades. There is no current production of Rooney "Finest". In my experience, if you find the Chubby the ultimate brush you may not care for the Rooney Finest. I've owned one and tried 3 others and they were all far too scritchy for me. I believe the hair in the M&F brush Claus is referencing is quite different. If you really loved a Shavemac D01 2-band then seeking out a Rooney Finest on BST might make sense. The XLs are fantastic brushes and while quite different than the Chubbies, complement them and as CessnaBird says, if you like some variety in your shave, they'd make a great addition.

These high end brushes are special. You may be in for an expensive ride! +1 on trying a finest - they turn up on BST quite often but you have to be fast to snag them - it may be one of the few things that is comparable to the 2-band chubby - other than perhaps a Plisson HMW or a custom D-01.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that my M&F Stubby Medium 2XL 'Rooney Finest' is a limited production run, and no longer is available as far as I know.

Also heard that 2012 production of Simpson 2-Band has a much softer feel than 2010/2011 production. My 2 Simpson 2-Band (both from 2012) are very soft in feel at the tips, and has ultra nice backbone.

Used my Chubby 2 Manchurian yesterday. I have so many brushes in my rotation that I had forgotten how much I like this brush. Man, I missed the boat on the Rooney XL brushes and I'm afraid I am never going to have a shot at a Rooney finest. Oh well. I did pruchase a Rooney Emillion 2 LE Butterscotch. I didn't realize that Butterscotch brushes could be so lovely.

If your looking for suggestions tailored to your tastes, what do you like about your Chubby? They are great brushes, but tell us more about why you like it.

If you think you like the CH2 in 2-band.......you should give the CH3 in 2-band a try. I probably couldn't afford this brush anymore after the price hike...I'm glad I snapped it up a few years back. I was so enamored with it that I kept the pre-bloom pic I took of it at the time. Nice flat top...

Loading is fantastic, great backbone for face lathering, transfers soap well, but it's really the feel on my face. It's not too scratchy, yet that big wide knot feels great without feeling too floppy, tips are soft but with just a little scratch. I hope that makes sense to you guys it's tuff to put into words
