The Simpson Classic 2 in Best (Pic-Heavy)

"Got Shoes?"
I just received this brush the other day from WCS and I have to say that this is truly a... well, uh.... a "classic" .

I have been curious about this brush for quite some time and finally decided to pull the trigger and continue on the down the road of the Simpsons less-traveled. I am very happy that I did.

I will just post all the pictures first and then I will add some comments afterwards since I know that most of you come here for the articles.

You can really see how dense the Classic 2 (on the left) really is.

The density of this brush reminds me of the the Eagle with a bit of a shorter loft which gives this brush the ability to devour soaps. The handle is in the Duke-style with a handle size that mirrors the Duke 2.

Therefore, with the similarities between the Duke and Eagle, I give you

THE "DUGLE"

Fantastic writeup and great pics! Looks like a really great brush.

Hm...
I've got a Duke 2.
Are the D2 and the CL2 basically the same brush with a slightly different handle?

EDIT: Just checked the Superior Shave for information on these two brushes.

Duke D2
Weight: 59g
Handle Diameter: 36mm
Height: 91mm
Knot Size: 22mm
Loft: 49mm

Classic CL2

Weight: 47g
Handle Diameter: 34mm
Height: 86mm
Knot Size: 23mm
Loft: 44mm

They do seem to be very similar...
But the Classic 2 is $30 more expensive!
Any idea as to why the large difference in price?

The Classic 2 is denser than my Duke 3 so I would think that would be a major difference (maybe a slight difference in loft) between the Duke 2 and the Dugle.

Fantastic Bob- many thanks for the photos and the write-up. Now I'm really sweating on the postman!

Would you say it is enough of a difference to warrant the additional cost?

Or here's perhaps another way to put it - a new member wants to buy a Simpsons brush in Best, and can't decide between the D2 & CL2.
Which would you recommend?

Probably subtle enough not to warrant an additional brush. For the collector, definitely worth it.

My answer is.... yes.

Bob, amazing brush indeed! Those pics are so beautiful, too! And what makes me even more happy is that right this morning I did order a Classic 2 Best for myself! Directly from Brett at Simpson/Vulfix! :001_smile:wink2::thumbup1:
