Today I finally bought a puck of cade. The price was right and it gave a good shave (a bit dry but I picked up the small AS balm too). But I can't help but feel that the scent is missing something. I like the scent a lot but I feel like it leaves me hanging. Does anyone else feel this way? Maybe I'm used to English scents, which are typically bold (think Eucris) , whereas French fragrences seem to be low key.

Yes, IMO you are quite right, this is why I like them so much and the main reason why I have not bought any products from TOBS, T&H or especially Trumpers. When I shave, I do not necessarily want to stink up the whole of the bathroom with, amongst others, the sickly sweet scent of violets.
"Cade" is the French word for Juniper. It also has macadamia nut oil listed as an essential ingredient.

But the OP asked about what was missing. I would say that missing ingredient is Lavender. Sometimes, when I use Cade soap, I mix it with KMF Lavender/Shea cream to whip up SuperLather, and the scent of the two together seems very nice.

While I love the soap, the scent is very subtle. Nice with the splash and balm, but on it's own very fleeting.

Gustav, thats a great point, the scent is not overbearing like many others (as you mentioned Trumpers Violet which is sickly sweet). dpm802, I think a top note of lavender would round of the fragrence very well. I think I'll try a super lather of AoS lavender soap (my favorite) and cade and see how I like it. Its interesting how people interpret scents.
