The Official "Showing Your Age" Thread

Yesterday I show my age in Fry's SuperMarket, owner by Krogers. Went it to but Flank Steak, they had asked guy behind counter could you tenderise twice. He said no way. I said you have butcher on duty, so the butcher came and asked what I wanted. I repeated request, and he seem upset having to do job.

I asked where is Bob the Real butcher, guy said medical leave, I said Bob would have done that 1, 2, 3, no problems. There two employee are upset as the word is Fry's is not good place to work.

One the way out I spoke with manager, told her the customer services was crap, employee moral was crap, and if she was a military commander, she would be relieved of duty for running a crappy ship. Also told he that will be my last visit to Fry's.

Kroger as I am told is about bottom line, they don't treat employee well, the Union does little to help staff. Back years ago working in grocery biz was good paying job, with benefit, and pension at retirement. World has changed.

Finding out a few days ago that your 18yrs old daughter is earning more an hour than you are.

I felt the same way when I was 18 and found out I was earning more than my father. 😔🤔🥳

Back in the 70s and 80s in my hometown when I was a kid, a $20-an-hour job at the steel mill basically was like being a "made man" in a crime syndicate.

You had a house, not a big one, but you had it. Two cars, wife didn't have to work, and you were eventually going to get that bass boat.

Now they talk about $20 for fast food jobs, but there aren't any McDonald's workers in Sacramento planning on a bass boat or a set of Ping golf clubs.

Every so often McDonald's would run a special offer of a hamburger, fries and a drink for $1
Showing my age by recalling getting three burgers, three orders of fries, and a drink at McDonalds (or better still Burger Chef) for under a buck total. Oh, and four cents change!

Awww...I get it like that every year...my goal is to live to be 1000. ;)

I have 'marinated' and reflected on this subject for a while and from an objective point of view.

I welcome getting old because (through a prism), I get the chance to look and think of the past with the same passions of living the present.

To reach 'deep' into my mind and soul and find a peace within myself: that is the benefit of 'the circle of life'. :thumbsup:

But...you know;

🕯️You're getting old when you can't burn the midnight oil past 9pm. :lol:
