The Nib's Official "Writing on a Banana" Thread

So it became apparent today that my colleague and desk neighbour at work had been missing out on one of life's most precious things.
As I unpacked my lunch, she raised an eyebrow and chucklingly asked why I'd drawn on my banana. "Because it's one of life's most sensual experiences" I answered. and besides, that's the only use for a ball point as far as I can see.

We spent a while drawing on fruit till the MD came past. Actually it was a cool day as later she tried my Faber Castell Basic and chirped in a surprised tone "ooh it's so smooth. I want one." I've promised to pick her up a pen next time I order something - really nice to spread the FP love.
Anyway, I thought if she's never drawn on a banana, perhaps some of you haven't either. Give it a bash, I promise you won't regret it (BP's only though folks)

Nope, I stand by sensual, there's a definite adult content to the BP on a banana.

Besides, it's a fruit, not a vegetable

From "Animal House" I believe that Eric Stratton is trying to pick up Dean Wormer's wife and invite her to the "DELTA" toga party!!!

Yeah, but according to Animal House, the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour.

and further to that, I'm not convinced that I've misused sensual. as my 2nd post, the intention was to imply adult undertones. I thought sensuous didn't do that?

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, Son.

Animal House - I think I was in that fraternity!!
(Actually, I was in Tau Kappa Epsilon.)

Anyway, from the "Common Errors in English Usage" website:
“Sensual” usually relates to physical desires and experiences, and often means “sexy.” But “sensuous” is more often used for esthetic pleasures, like “sensuous music.” The two words do overlap a good deal. The leather seats in your new car may be sensuous; but if they turn you on, they might be sensual. “Sensual” often has a slightly racy or even judgmental tone lacking in “sensuous."
