What's new

The latest off the lathe.

I got this piece of wood in a grab bag of exotic wood blanks and I don't know exactly what it is. The finish is just polyurethane. I forgot how many coats, but many. The knot is a 24mm "Ace" finest set at 50mm loft.

All the brushes I make for my own use have longer than normal handles. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands are pretty deformed, so I make it easier on myself by making the handles longer. Here are some others.....

Very nice work.

I've had RA since about 92 (diagnosed then) so I feel you. I get very irritated every time I do stuff with my hands because I drop stuff a lot.

Excellent craftsmanship-- I especially like the handles that appear to be cork. :thumbup1:

If you two Veterans will PM your address, I will send you a custom cork shaving brush as thanks for your service. It will take a about a week to get them done.

God bless you!

Wow, very nice work. I have big hands and I find that a fat-handled brush is difficult to work in a mug or small bowl so I've been on the lookout for a longer handled brush. The one in the last photo looks like an ideal shape. Do you have prices for items available?
I'm a big fan of wood with visible burls. My dad has a pen made from Hawaiian Koa wood and I'm jealous.
Great gesture Ronnie for the two folks above.

Bless you for your kind gesture. I'm guessing the 3 brushes in the posted picture are cork - am I correct?

They are a synthetic rubberized burl cork made for custom fishing rod grips. They are dense, waterproof and pretty easy to work with.
