The Illinois Co. strop #127?

I was wondering if this is a good strop? I want a decent one under $50 and this seems like a good one for the price.

So anybody own one that can chime in on how it is?

I have one. It's not a bad strop for the cash.

The second component is a little stiff. It makes an intense zzzziiiiiiiippppp sound. I never use it anymore.

That was my first one and it worked fine. I said "my first one" because it did suffer a few. or quite a few nicks, and cuts. After a while you may want to lay down bigger bucks for a future heirloom- Tony Miller, Kanayama, etc. if the fever hits. I now use the second component with CrO for touchups.

I also thought about the one on starshaving.com too. The 3" wide "Big daddy" is about the same price and might be a little better than the Illinois one.

I have both, and like them both. The Illinois is a little bit of a "rougher" leather so it has more draw. The Big daddy is a nice strop for the money for sure, so I don't think you can go wrong! Of course my Tony Miller gets the most use, but I think you'll be happy with either one

No. The oils from your hand should be fine.
