What's new

The "I forgot that I owned that already" thread

Whenever you've been into collecting something for a while, you tend to forget about some of the things that you've owned but haven't been using. Once they get put in the bottom of the box or the back of the drawer, you lose track of them. Then, when you're digging around for something, they turn up again and you are pleasantly surprised. What do you have, hidden away in your collection, that you've forgotten about?

I was looking for a Platinum converter this morning, and I found several Esties that I had completely forgotten about. I will definitely work them back into my rotation. I also came across a black ebonite Ratnam that was still in the box. A couple of years ago, I got it along with a green one that I use every now and then, but I've never even inked this one.

I haven't had that happen with pens yet, but I have with firearms. I collect battle rifles and carbine from the Indian Wars through the Second World War and more than once I've bought an example of a rifle only to find that I already have one from that particular year or make/model.

I hope this happens with pens soon too.

I've been doing this for a while now so I've got some good ones I'll detail later when I get home. Bad memory always helps as well.

Recently, a black M200 Pelikan was duplicated and I also found a whole tray of vintage Sheaffers.

Well if anyone finds doubles they have no use for (yeah right no use for lol) I'll gladly take them off your hands, free of charge too.

... a black M200 Pelikan was duplicated ...

I did that, but was aided by the fact that I had misplaced the original and thought it lost for good. So I bought ... two Pelikans to replace it (a 200 black and green swirl, and a 215 blue with silver stripes).

Then I found the original pen.

I have a case in my briefcase that has 3 pens in it I always forget is there.
Last I checked there was an M200 and a Waterman Expert II in it.
Not sure if there are other pens. I just seem to forget they are around.

Now half as wise
Recently found a Parker 45 when I was cleaning out a box of stuff in the basement. I vaguely remember having it. Pretty sure it was in a desk drawer at home, many, many years ago. Probably was my Dad's at some point.
