Copperhead those razors are absolutely beautiful. Stunned how good they look. I would bet in person they are eye-popping.

I think i should edit my OP. I have started this thread for other to confess :biggrin1:, i have not been active, at least not in a big way, on ebay for sometime now and the the links posted above are just a few ebay listings i have been watching from the side lines. I was planning to get into the Mikron bidding but it went out of my price point. I hope one of our B&B brethren got it and if i was a betting man then my money would be on Ray. Let's see.

A thread for you ebay sinners to come forward and confess your sins. So come on now don't be shy, let's start of with these

1. ebay # - 160385535092
2. ebay # - 280437518528

Good heavens! Those look great, but the combined cost is subtantially more than I've paid for all of my razors. Too rich for my blood. I would like to own something like that, though. Congratulations.

My sins are more along the lines of not knowing the market value of something, and paying too much for it. For example, a few months ago I bought a Gillette Travel Tech in decent condition for $11.99 shipped. A bit later, I found another one in near mint condition, with the case, for $7.74 shipped. Sort of like the one that somebody else was asking about here recently that they got for under $6.

Or I may miss a good deal by being too impatient. Just bought this Fatboy for an okay price. Looks like it should clean up fairly well. If I'd held off bidding for a while, I might have tried to get this lot instead, which includes a Fatboy. Couldn't justify going for it after I'd won the other auction. I don't know what condition the other Fatboy is in, I already have four Super Speeds and two News, and I might just have driven up the price for the eventual buyer. I am curious to hear, though, if the guy who won that was a B&B member.

Well, enough of this. I'm off to the flea market in a little bit. Seriously.

[Edit] And I see copperhead's explanation now that he didn't actually buy those, so I guess I don't have to be envious.:001_cool: I was watching that $177.50 Schick auction that was mentioned here recently. If I'd been the winning buyer there, I'd feel more like a fool than a sinner.

Those are definitely not sins, just the learning curve. I am sure every single person here on B&B when they started out on ebay, looking for razors, has done that. When i started out on this journey the Fatboy was (might be still is judging by some of the crazy prices they sometime go for) the bee's knees of razors and they were very hard to find, more like the bottom dial 195 and the prices reflected that. Nowadays you youngins have it very easy by comparison, everybody seems to be selling a mint Fatboy these days.

LOL, good one, crazy stuff happens, no doubt. When i saw the title I was thinking of other kinds of "sins". specialy ones where auctions misteriously end early:
A couple of days ago, a President auction terminated 12 hours before time: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120505168383

Now that would certainly be the top of the list. I am sure all of us can find it in our hearts to forgive those if there were no bids already in place. If there were in fact bids in place...

OK here's my confessional:

I thought I was pretty much done with RAD (yeah, right), but have been trying to keep an eye out for a good deal on a Fatboy and/or a nice khaki set.

What got me bidding on this though is the 'bonus' razor. It appears to be an unnotched SS, so I'm guessing '46 or '47. The post office has them out for delivery, so hopefully I'll have my first fatboy shave in today!!!

Right!

I had the 46-47 Aristocrat on my watch list and could not believe how high it went. I gave up before even entering a bid.

At least I do not feel too bad about the $39 I paid for my 46-47 Aristocrat. It has no container and is not in mint condition but I saved $326. I think someone was determined to get something very nice before Christmas. I see the same thing with old hand tools. Sometimes someone goes crazy over a particular item, who knows why.

Greetings everyone!!

I'll throw my two cents in on this one, and hopefully won't offend anyone in the process. Since this is a "confessional", I will confess . . . not only do I buy razors on eBay, I also sell razors on eBay (along with other "stuff.") In fact, some of my customers are B&B members who's posts are regularly read and respected!

(Wow, I thought I felt the earth move . . .)

Personally, I won't sell dirty junk. I do my best to accurately describe, picture, and grade my razors. If anything, I have probably left money on the table due to the honesty of my descriptions. In my feedback, many customers indicate that the product is "better than described". That, coupled with careful packaging, fast shipping, and honest shipping costs at least makes me feel like I am giving people their money's worth.

Keeping my eye on the eBay razor market, I am amazed at not only the prices that some razors sell for, but also the lack of product knowledge by some sellers! In fact, it almost seems like the sellers that mis-identify a poorly photographed item and add $$ to the shipping costs sell the most!!

My sense of honesty won't let me take a fuzzy picture of a fat-handled Tech and call it a Fat Boy . . . like the one I saw a few weeks ago!!

For my purchases on eBay, I do set firm limits on my bidding and sometimes cry a little . . . or laugh a lot!!

Now that I have confessed . . . I hope I still have friends here!!

Merry Christmas!!

As a buyer, I'm glad that online resources such as mr-razor, and the wiki here enable me to identify most items correctly before I get them. My personal favorite, of the mis-labeled items I've seen, was a set of three travel techs identified as Super Speeds.

I accept that some sellers will honestly get the description wrong. A while ago, though, when I was looking for a Slim, I found one that was mis-labeled a Fatboy. No biggie. I contacted the seller to let him know, and sent him some B&B links to show the difference. He didn't answer, and went on to sell the razor for over $40 after shipping. Then he put another Slim up for sale, and was calling it a Fatboy, too. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he considered me a crank, and never bothered to check my information. I ended up getting mine from somebody else for a lot less.

I too have taken time to notify a seller when they have called a Slim a Fat Boy . . . only once did someone actually modify their listing! That is the kind of (purposeful?) mis-identification that gives eBay sellers a bad reputation.
