The Body Shop cream- anyone use ?

I was at The Body Shop today and got a free sampler of their shaving cream.

Smells nice...will try it tomorrow.

Anyone have any experience with this product ?

I use it fairly regularly. If ya like the smell you won't be disappointed! It seems the smell is the only real disagreement on it. Some like it and some don't. Enjoy!!

I presume that we are talking about the Maca Root product?

If so then I've use and it is fine, nothing startlingly but fine :thumbup1:

Used it this morning. It's a very nice product and I really enjoy the scent too. I also think that their post-shave relief is really under-appreciated.

The Body Shop had a different version that they discontinued a year or so ago. Some loved and some hated the scent of that one. The Macca Root often gets compared, and probably doesn't quite get a fair shake from those like me who liked the original.

I have it and use it sometimes. It's ok. The Body Shop's White Musk AS Balm pairs nicely with it. I think C.O. Bigelow is better. But I can get satisfactory results using Maca Root. But my question is, why use maca root in shaving cream. Last I read it was being used for testosterone enhancement along with horny goat weed.

Might be good for me then....some say I'm nothing but an old goat.

The shaving cream that led me to B&B and DE's. I do like it, the scent is ok, nothing amazing but not bad. I have a couple soaps, but no other creams yet, so I can't give a fair comparison, other to say that it is miles and kilometres past canned goo.

A good shaving cream, and I like the scent. BUT: For the same price, I can get 3 tubes of Speick shaving cream or 4 of classic Palmolive. And as nice as Maca Root shaving cream is, it can't compare to those two.

:001_huh:Its far better.

About 3 weeks ago I got a sample and now I only shave using creams.

Since then I've tried a few other creams and I'm no longer a shaving soap user.

Back to the Body Shop cream, I think it's a great cream that has great lather, smell and price.

Enjoy.

I've used the Macca Root cream from the Body Shop twice now. Today, I got perhaps what was my best lather using anything.

But then you have to realize...I've only been using my new DE shaver for 3 weeks and before that used a Gillette Fusion shaver for a couple of months.

I've used Proraso shaving soap (Green puck) Creamo Shaving Creme, Gillette Gel and the Body Shop stuff.

So far the Body Shop stuff seems to provide the best lather.

I used the original, daily for 10 years and loved it. Then I discovered this website and started experimenting with different creams along with the Body Shop.

Last year, Body Shop had a sale on the newer Maca root cream, so I bought 2 tubs as my wife liked the smell. I used it the next day, and I felt like I had acid on my face as I was getting a burning sensation (which I had never experienced with any other cream). I opened the 2nd tub, and tried it the next day with the same results. I returned both tubs for a full refund. Something in the new formulation didn't agree with me, which is a shame, as I liked the fact that such a well priced cream could be found at the local mall.

That's not great. I think I'll use the new Macca Root sample till I've used it up...to see if I have any negative side effects.

I also got a sample a few weeks back and tried it a couple of times. The first time was fine, but it does have a clothes detergent smell. Not very powerful though. The second time it was as if the sample kind of dried out and it was hard to lather with. It turned me off. I would hate for it to dry out after buying it.

I also wondered about the use of Maca root since it's supposed to have nutritional benefits. Do I eat it or shave with it? In the long run, it didn't seem to really do the Inca people much good. More marketing hype to wade through. If that's the message they want to use to sell the product, it turns me off even if it is a good product. I want to know why it's good to shave with.

I have found this cream to perform just as well as the usual top performer suspects talked about here. Lathers easily to provide slickness and cusion. I tire of the scent quickly and will use it about once every 2 weeks, preferring my soaps to creams.
