The best shave?

I was on puppy duty for a friend this week. I brought my favorite razor, spare blades, after shave, and everything else but my soap and brush.... Once I realized my error, I looked in her bathroom supply closet, and found nothing shaving related (she uses wax. Ouch).. So, out of desperation, I wet my face, and rubbed on some Suave pro brand aloe Vera fortified hair conditioner.

Wow!!!! It didn't lather, of course, but it didn't dry out either. It provided the smoothest, quietest, and most irritation free shave I have ever experienced. Razor passes not only cut far more hair per stroke, but the hair in front of the blade seemed to cut like butter, while my skin was so well lubricated as to seem razor proof...

My standard shave routine reached new heights of closeness and comfort, and I was able to make more passes in less time to get a ten minute perfect BBS shave with zero after shave sting using my standard Astra blade choice.... Dare I say it, I had my first irritation free Feather shave by using hair conditioner as a shave lotion as well...

i didn't report my experience until I used the conditioner for a full week, and with different blades (yes, I picked up more razors and blades the day after the discovery), but at this point in time, my brush is retired, and Suave conditioner is my perfect shave cream.

if you never tried it, please do, and let me know how it goes... Razors rinse clean under the tap, the shave is beyond awesome, and it just takes two fingers and a drop to prepare for another pass... And its cheap!! I love it.

I'm not giving up my soaps...but I'm glad it works for you! The owner of Myrsol still uses his original lotion to shave with, and I know there are some good shaving oils out there.

More than one way to shave those wiskers off.

I've got a cupboard full of excellent soaps. But an empty bank account. In five or so years, when I've worked tbrough my soaps, I'll have to remember this.

Why on Earth would you shave a puppy?
:facep:
Easy to keep them cool in the summer, all that fur can get hot and since they are unable to sweat they can overheat easily.

But to the OP I have to say I was going to ask if anyone has tried the DIY shaving cream/lotion that is on Youtube which is basically mixing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Lotion. I guess this would be close to that.

Back in my cartridge days I used to use that Aussie hair conditioner rather than canned goo. It works pretty well.

But I LOVE clepping a lather with a brush.

Next time I'm in an emergency situation, though, I'll be sure not to forget that hair conditioner makes a pretty good shave cream.
