The accidental studio -

The "Really BIG softbox" thread that fast14riot started reminded me of some shots I took for my neighbor's, girlfriends, daughter last summer. She had been wanting some photos and we both finally had a clear spot on our schedules to set a day up.

Unfortunately, everything we had planned for shooting outside went out the window when it turned out to be kind of a nasty day. She didn't want pictures in a rain jacket for some reason. :)

So I had her meet me at my neighbor's place. He runs an old school three rack Harley repair shop, and across the driveway from the shop he's got one of these "non-building" buildings made of huge 1/2 circle hoops with a skin stretched over it.

Turns out the light in there is amazing.

The entire interior is one curved white surface. It's like being inside a huge softbox -

I just pointed all my lights at the wall/ceiling and went for it. I haven't set up anything else to shoot in there since, but I intend to. It's a really great space - I've been thinking of looking for a portable "floor" - like linoleum I could roll up - to shoot on. The concrete really doesn't do it for me. :)

That's a really cool building! I can see how it would make lighting very easy! Oh(!) And that Moto Guzzi is to die for! Beautiful bike!
