Thayer's Superhazel as After Shave

Hello everyone,

I'm new to DE shaving and I use Proraso as my go to shaving cream. I haven't found a good aftershave that matches the scent, which I love. But I'm not ready to spend $13.00 + shipping for the Proraso aftershave on Amazon. I've seen Thayer's Medicated Superhazel at a local natural food store and noticed that it has mint and eucalyptus in the ingredients, so I was wondering if the scent is at all similar. I love the effects of the original Thayer's. Any advice would be great and could save me some money instead of blindly buying different things.

They aren't close to the same scent. I use the Superhazel on occasion as a post shave splash, but it has a real,strong antiseptic witch hazel scent.

Not that there anything wrong with that.....

I use the superhazel as well (or regular witch hazel pending the day)--If it wasn't for the darned a.d.s I think I could use either regular witch hazel (cheap stuff or Dickinsons) or the SuperHazel exclusively.

It does a very nice job of calming, soothing and moisturizing as the ingredients would suggest.

I use the Medicated Superhazel about 60% of the time. Love it. Use it right after the shave. A great value.

I love the Thayer's Super Hazel and typically mix it in a bottle with some sort of a cream or aftershave balm to make it thicker and easier to apply. Though I agree, the scents are not the same. Next time you are in the store, just pop the lid on one of bottle and test the scent for yourself - as long as you don't lick it, it should be okay

The Superhazel is my favorite in the Thayers line. I love the scent-it is, as described above, very medicinal. It works great.

I used to use this stuff daily. Still use it from time to time. The scent, as others have stated, is nothing like Proraso. But once it dries, it leaves no scent at all. Feel free to splash on some AS or cologne afterwards.

I use thayers WH because it does not smell as medicinal as the less expensive brands. The smell dissapears as soon as it dries so it is no substitute for an AS expected to provide a lasting scent such as Old Spice or Clubman. I like to use Dominica Bay Rum Lime after using Thayers WH.

I love the superhazel. I use it daily, but I add an aftershave.

Use it daily, but, as others have mentioned, scent disappears almost immediately. Typically follow it with an aftershave.

I haven't used Thayers yet but I have some Rose on the way. hopefully it will jive well with my TOBS Rose.

Thayers makes a good product. I like the rose petal and lavender.

I have the Original and it's been kidnapped by SWMBO......she uses it as a toner
