That Spot That Drives You Crazy

Do any of you have a spot on your face that just drives you crazy? By all accounts I got a really decent shave tonight...except for that spot. You know the one. The spot that if you run your finger over it just the right way you can feel that little sandpaper roughness no matter how many times or how many directions you've gone over it.

My spot, I'm finding, is under the rear of my left jaw. Not my right jaw, my left jaw. What in the world should be different I don't know. I have stretched my skin, looked at it in bright light, and even caught a couple of stray whiskers that I could catch with my razor. I keep going back to do touch ups on the spot, sans cream, just a dry razor, because I already cleaned my brush and put everything away. Now I have a burning irritation in that spot because of my OCD.

Do you know how Superman shaved in the comics (because no razor could cut his Kryptonian beard)? He aimed his heat vision in a mirror and bounced it off very precisely to laser those whiskers off. I wish I could do that.

So, do you have that spot?

My challenge spot is exactly the same, under the rear of my jaw; but I've got it on both sides.
I can usually bring it to DFS with a little buffing.
...
If that doesn't work there's always Nair. (j/k) :wink2:

It may take a long time, but you'll eventually figure out how to get that spot.

I had a similar 'spot', but just over 1 year of daily DE shaving I finally figured it out. Keep at it.

My face? No.

On my throat though, yes. Right side of my throat, just an inch below my jaw. I'm a right hand-only straight shaver and, fittingly, that spot is the most difficult to reach. My entire faces is pretty much BBS with 2 passes, scything and guillotine strokes, but I reserve touch up for that area.

The point of my chin has always been a real tough area...the hair there is the thickest out of all the hair on my face, I can't shave ATG because it leads to major cuts/irritation, and the hair grows essentially parallel to the skin...I'm getting better with it, but it'll take some time before I've mastered this part of my face.

+1. I can buff for quite a while, then when I rub the alum stone on, I can feel the errant stubble. Very odd, but always the challenge.

Not my face - but my throat right under my jaw. My hair there swirls in every direction and it is hard to shave there. However, with the use of j strokes and blade buffing I usually can handle it.

I find my upper lip is the most resistant to getting a close shave. Ofter, an extra swipe or two is required to get to that close shave.

Chin...you can see the fella here...sporting a winter hat, and a smirk.

The areas on both sides of my chin under the corner of my lips.

+1. Also, the bottom edge of the sides of my chin. I think that might be why I like my Tech better than my Merkur 23C - smaller head=more maneuverability, and a greater chance I'll get The Spot.

I'd like you to meet my little friend (ala Scarface) :gunsmilie:

My problem spot is either side of my throat. Every time I try to buff or touch it up inevitably I get a nick:mad3:

The very back corners of my jaw line. my hair swirls there and using a straight I just cant get a good angle on it. :tongue_sm

I have a spot on my front and back left jaw too that is difficult, and I always had problems with it until I got a slant razor. It seems to make a big difference with no extra effort required.
