Tetsubin

Does anyone happen to know a spot I can order an unlined Tetsubin (water boiler) in the states? I found a couple in Japan but the shipping is astronomical because of the weight.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure I've seen one that didn't have glaze on the inside. Then again, I haven't been particularly looking.

Yes, the teapots with the enamel glaze inside are quite common. I'm looking for a cast iron water boiler.

I have seen them at Tractor Supply Company. They are just cast iron, I only use mine for putting moisture in the air. If you are looking for something to drink out of, I am sorry to mislead you.

I'm on the hunt as well. I have a couple of really nice vintage ones with a glazed interior, which I was lucky enough to score at a good price, but I would like a proper kettle to match.

Yeah, I'm not sure, with all the tea websites why no one carries these... at this point it looks like it will have to be imported but I'm trying to avoid that.

Thanks for the tip... I know the ones you are talking about. They are meant for putting on top of wood stoves, etc to keep the room moist. I'm looking for a kettle for tea water though.

I've seen a lot of old cast iron kettles for sale here in antique stores and markets. With a good clean they would work fine, I'm sure. But the Japanese ones look much nicer.
