Tet-a-tet cream

Todays shave features tet-a-tet cream from the russian federation....it has the same aquamarine color as the russian everest cream ,and almost no scent at all... density is about on par with arko ...lathers up very quickly, and the lather is pure white (see photo)...I used a vie-long pure horse hair with a 23mm knot and beautiful olive wood handle,my grandfathers 1963 gillette adjustable , a russian iridium and a smooth glass mug...nice and easy shave, good glide,no effort...I set the gillette on 4 for most of my face and 7 for the tough spots, full protection from the cream,no nicks or cuts...the vie-long 23mm knot brushes are the best horse hair brushes made today, and this one still held enough lather for a second shave...I finished it off with a short facial massage with the tet-a-tet 3AM aftershave balm...nice cool menthol breeze, good nourishing and conditioning of the skin...the afterglow left a slight scent of the liquid tet-a-tet aftershave, but nowhere near as strong..the liquid is a little out of my taste in aftershaves..but this is a really nice cream and balm combo..

Nice post. Cool to see the products from behind the red curtain:thumbup1:, but you do know that 3am is just the end of the word "balsam" in Russian, right?:tongue_sm

Where did you find all this stuff anyway?

I made a trade with a guy in the federation...hope to get more...are you sure it says "balsam" and not "balm" ?? maybe the two words are readily interchanged in russian?

Thanks for taking the trouble to post all these reviews of uncommon creams.:thumbup1:

THANKS ! it really is a great pleasure for a guy that loves wetshaving to try creams ,soaps, blades and brushes from all over the world..it's amazing what you can find when you look outside the u.s,

I haven't travelled outside the U.S. a lot, but everywhere I go I try to go into stores and pharmacies to see if they have any interesting shaving products. But I haven't found anything like the interesting creams you're sharing with us here. Thanks! :thumbup1:

it's definitely balsam...which in this case is synonymous with balm. Balsam is also, as some may know, is a common type of medicinal drink usually with made w/ spirits.

semi-related, my wife told me that the older folk from her town would try to find a certain type of Eau de Cologne when vodka wasn't available due to rations.

I bet the old folks had the nicest smelling breath in the whole town !!

I had the pleasure of trying this cream, again, thanks to Ron for the sample. The scent is nice but maybe a bit old for me. I think there's a bit of menthol in there (good) but it's very very light. Overall, very nice cream, thick lather, performs very well!

Thanks Ron!! :thumbup1:

I do agree with you,the tet-a-tet cream and tet-a-tet aftershave both mix in a little of that "old timer" scent in their products...I think guys that grew up using the stuff probably learned to like it...I am not crazy about this scent either , canadian fauldings has them beat by a mile in the scent department ! I have 7-8 other russian creams, none of them use that "old guy" scent...
