Tech Information

I pick up this razor recently. When I saw the fluted handle I thought Contract Tech but it doesn't have a ball end handle. A closer look at the base plate indicates that it was made in Canada and has 1932 stamped there as well as the photos show. My understanding is that Techs first appeared around 1939 and Mr. Razor shows a couple of Techs, post 1939, both with the 1932 stamp. The Gillette Handbook makes no reference to Canadian Techs as far as I know. Anyone have any information on them or do I have a Frankenrazor?

The Canadian Tech razor carried a patent date of 1932, but wasn't actually in full production until 1939. Based on the shape of the relief slots, yours would be from after 1945. I'm not sure about the handle, but Canadian razors over the years have been known to have some differences in handles from both US and British production.

I recall reading somewhere the 1932 date having something to do with Canada/U.K. legalities . . . maybe one of our brethren from "up north" can fill us in . . .

Thanks from a fellow Granite Stater.

Excellent find. Mild enough to shave a baby's butt(also it is the goal for our faces to become that way), yet in experienced hands can provide a very close, irritation free shave.
