This bugger had some very warped horn scales that required a re-form to make them useful again. I found a technique on that other forum that uses a flat iron for hair (Don't tell the wife!) that worked better than anything I have ever tried. I don't know if one side of these scales stretched over time but I needed to fill and drill to make everything line up correctly. I broke the center spacer when I tried to put it in so I machined another out of a spoke nipple from a bicycle. The pins are stainless brads (nails) from the hardware store with stainless washers from Micro Fasteners.
