Taylor Of Old Bond Street Luxury Lavender Water?

Say gents, I hope someone here can shed some light on this oft ignored fragrance. It is listed separately from both the colognes and aftershaves on Taylor's site.

I am going to be going on one of my yearly buying binges next month and a few new splashes and hair tonics are always in order. I have a few of them written in stone on the "buy list". Things like Alt Innsbruck, Harris EdP hair tonic, Royal Briar, Harris sandalwood, and a few others.

There is one gaping hole in my toiletry locker and it is located where a bottle of some sort of lavender water should be firmly occupying the space. I know Atkinson's is always a forum favourite but I did not want to overlook the Taylor product if it merits attention. Bullgoose carries it which is a small miracle in and of itself because there just isn't anyone else in the States who stocks it. At least as far as I know. I don't have an issue with ordering from either of those sites so it is covered from that aspect.

I simply know nothing of the product itself. I have REALLY pored over the shaving forums and there is essentially no talk of it. Just a smattering of references here and there. I can tell you what I do and do not like about lavender products. I like the herbaceous, almost minty lavenders. Like the Bulgarian strains used in products like Avalon Organics lightweight moisturising lotion. They are an olfactory delight and really do relax me. I DO NOT like the granny/sweet toilette water/cloying synthetic smelling "cologne" type of lavender scent. You have all smelled soaps at TJ Maxx that purport to be lavender. The reek of sweet something or other and make me nearly ill. So if it leans that way, I will opt for the Atkinson's. Still, I would not want to overlook a good product due to a poor guess.

Regards, Todd

I have TOBS lavender, and use it both for an aftershave splash and a body splash. I would say it is slightly herbaceousk, but not too minty (if it were minty I wouldn't use it). I bought it as a sample to test and have been satisfied. I know that many recommend Atkinson's, but I have never had the opportunity to try it. If you really wanted lavender with mint, C&S Oxford and Cambridge (or vice versa) really has that! But now you are talking the bigger bucks.

Thanks John. That is good information. I can live without the mint thing, it is just that it is alright with me as a component. The Bulgarian lavenders have that note to them but it is something you sense rather than smell so to speak. So yeah, a straight up herbaceous lavender is fine as well. I was more concerned with the "little old lady's hankie" sort of thing. Sounds like it may be a good choice.

Just bought my second bottle of TOB Lavender from Bullgoose. My favorite after shave splash. It has a slight oil in it that helps moisturize the skin. I like it very much otherwise I would not have bought another bottle.
