Tatara DE blades

A fellow wet shaver told me that Tatara now have their own DE blades. At least we know that they are made in Europe.

I got an email from then with the announcement. I did a quick google search and nobody has done a review yet. I'm curious how these will stack up against my usuals --- Astra, Feather. If anyone tries, these let us know on the forum.

Who knows, so many blades out there. But just guessing here, Europe larger blade manufacturers that I know are, Germany, Czech &, Greece. I may of miss one...but the brand name Tatara is so close to Tatra(czech/tiger) makes me laugh a bit..who knows, someone try them...and or someone will find out...
How much are they asking for a 100?
Selling just 5 at a time would be a joke..

Looks like they are $20 for 100. Right now, they have a special on orders over $150 US - free shipping and a free 100ct of those blades.

My Days of finding new blades are pretty much over. It should be methodical process. My three go to blades work best for me and my face. From there so are specific to certain razors. Most do thought.
Naturally some like to narrow it down to one. It is truly one of those critical fondation blocks for consistency in the shave. But again it is all personal YMMV thing. Someone will try'em..but it will not be me.
BFX..
Enjoy every shave, take care of the face.....and have fun....

I got a tuck of these on a whim when purchasing their alum block; first tried them out today.

On first impression, they seem pretty similar to the Rapira Swedish Supersteel, to the point where I'm wondering if they are a private label version (would explain their hesitance about saying exactly which country the blades are from).

They are:
-Double wrapped
-Quite smooth
-Mild to moderate sharpness (I think they would probably pair better with a Nodachi than a standard Masamune)

Jury's still out on durability because today was just day 1 with them. Further impressions to follow.

Rapira Swedish Steel blades are just fine, the best so far of all the Rapira blades I've tried, so getting them as a private label isn't a bad thing. I should be getting around 100 shaves on a blade.

Durability:
  • 7 shaves
  • I have relatively coarse hair and usually switch out blades after 4-6
  • Typically I do a triple pass daily shave
    • I intentionally skipped a couple days to allow a second day of growth to "torture test" the blade
I would say above average in the durability department (B+/A-ish), although not to the 10-14 days I could get out of a Kai.

Overall, I would say they are not bad blades, and I would not be sad to see them in a variety pack, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to purchase them, especially given that you can get similar mild-moderate blades for 1/2 to 1/3 the price.

Those who like the feel of Voskhods, STP-301s, Derby Premiums, and the sharper Lord brand blades like the Lord or Shark Platinum would probably like these. Probably not a blade for people who like Nacets, Feathers, and the other more aggressive blades.

Yep, made in Europe, platinum coating and laser etching point towards being made by Czech Blades s.r.o., manufacturers of Tatra Platinum.

I guess the considerable markup would be due to the additional cost of ink needed for the extra "a" in Tatara:biggrin1:

Been awhile since I used one, according to my notes ‘solid mid-tier’ blades. So definitely worth a try IMO!!

I like Tatara Blades. Not sharpest but very smooth. This kind of blades works for me best in more aggressive razors or higher settings of adjustable razors. Will order 100 for sure. Today with Muramasa on setting 4 was extremely smooth autopilot shave, only after alum block showed me how close it was in reality.

I ordered a pack of 100 of it and hope when it will arrive be different from Rapira because other than Rapira lux, other rapira blades seems dull for me and don't work on my face(ymmv).
